What Is the EU AI Act?

The EU AI Act is the European Union’s comprehensive law on artificial intelligence, adopted in 2024. It takes a risk-based approach, banning certain uses, imposing strict requirements on “high-risk” systems, and setting transparency rules for others. As one of the first broad AI laws, it is influencing regulation worldwide.
